Sunshine & Honey

There are some paintings you plan… and some that quietly decide they’re finished without even asking you.
Sunshine and Honey has lived on the wall in my art room for a long time. It was in that “almost done” category — the place where brushes hover, where you think, maybe one more layer… maybe a few more details… maybe it needs something else. I walked past it every day with the intention of “finishing” it.
And then one day, I stopped.
I realized I didn’t want to touch it.
Not because I gave up — but because it already felt complete. The warmth, the movement, the layered petals, the looseness in the leaves… it had that effortless feeling I’m always chasing but can’t force. It felt like sunshine pouring into a room. Like golden hour. Like something sweet and slow.
That’s where the name came from — Sunshine and Honey.
This piece is all warmth and softness. Coral, blush, and rose florals gather together in a simple glass vase, grounded by a rich golden background that glows instead of shouts. It’s bold, but gentle. Bright, but calming. The kind of painting that changes the whole mood of a space without overwhelming it.
It reminds me that sometimes the magic happens when we stop trying to make something “more” and simply let it be.
